A Wiltshire Walkers Story

A few weeks ago the Wiltshire Walkers dropped into the pub for drinks and a bowl of cheesy chips. Dee Atkinson tells their story.

There is nothing quite like a jolly good walk out in the countryside, followed by good refreshments at a lovely pub when you have completed your walk. I walk with the Wiltshire Walkers, who are a terrific bunch of people. As you can gather by the title, we walk all over Wiltshire come rain or shine. If possible we then finish up either at a cafe or pub to quench our thirst and put some food in our bellies !!!

A few weeks ago we walked a route in Bishop's Cannings. This is a delightful 6 mile walk, which takes in the canal, and the wansdyke. Refreshments are welcomed at the end, so off we went to The Bridge Inn.

There were around 14 of us, all wishing for different drinks, which was not a problem in the slightest. We were made to feel so welcome, it felt as if we had been going there for years and the same with the staff.

The majority of us, decided on a bowl of cheesy chips. Oh my, we were not disappointed. They were truly mouthwatering, and another bowl will be asked for on the next walk.

Diane the licensee was so lovely, couldn’t do enough for you. Again you felt as if you had known her for years. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, even to the point of them coming out after a few minutes of us having all our orders, if everything was ok. I know this should happen, but sadly it doesn’t. It’s these little things that all add up to a well run and caring establishment.

I know we will be going back, and not just after a walk, but with other friends.

Thank you Diane and your staff, for making us feel very welcome. I and our group wish you much success for the future at The Bridge Inn.
